Replace Layer Source Shortcut in After Effects

Replaces the source of a layer while keeping all its transformations and effects.

A lifesaver when you receive an updated version of a graphic or a new VFX plate. It lets you swap out the source material without having to re-animate or re-apply any of the keyframes, masks, or effects you've already created.

In the Project panel, select the new source footage you want to use. In the timeline, select the layer you want to replace. Hold down the Alt key, then drag the new source from the Project panel and drop it directly onto the old layer in the timeline.
